"AvtoVAZ" denied reports about the imminent statement on the conveyor "heel" called Lada Van, but officially announced the start of the previously announced production model Vesta with continuously variable automatic transmission.

According to the press service of the manufacturer, the following cars of the family will receive a new transmission that significantly increases driving comfort: sedan and sedan Cross, SW and SW Cross.

As you know, the continuously variable transmission of the Japanese brand Jatco is widely used on cars of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, and since July 2019 is offered to buyers on Lada Xray Cross. Its main feature is that, in addition to the V-belt transmission with a powerful steel belt, the design involves a two-stage gearbox sector. This solution made the unit more compact and 13% lighter than previous models. This design increases traction characteristics and is not afraid of frost, slippage and heavy loads, and, in addition, with a confident acceleration provides high acoustic comfort and fuel efficiency.

Together with the automatic transmission on the "West" for the first time installed 113-horsepower engine Alliance HR-16. In the process of adapting the transmission for use on Lada Vesta, new calibrations of the power unit were developed, the original exhaust system, new wheel drives, upgraded power unit supports were applied. The complex of engineering solutions allowed to save the weight of the car and ground clearance: 178 mm in basic versions and 203 mm in Cross modifications. Lada Vesta family models with this type of transmission have passed a full cycle of tests. 39 cars took part in road tests in the total volume of 1 million kilometers, as well as in laboratory and climatic tests: in Surgut-at a temperature of minus 47 degrees Celsius and in Taman at +40C.

As already reported, with the release of the new model in the color range of Lada Vesta will be a new blue color "diving". Detailed information about the prices and trim levels of the Vesta model range with automatic transmission is promised later.

As for the reports that have excited the automotive community about the imminent release of the "heel" called Lada Van, they were personally checked today by the head of the press service of AVTOVAZ Sergey Ilyinsky: "in the coming years, such a car should not be expected for sure." At the same time, it was stressed that AVTOVAZ is focused on the development of Lada Largus model, which has become the leader of the Russian market of light commercial vehicles: "Demand is growing with the release of new versions, for example CNG, we focus on this car."
