The official release of the characteristics of the Audi S8

The official release of the characteristics of the Audi S8 was timed to the international test drive for the press, so some journalists had the opportunity to compare the factory data with the indicators on the real road. So the claimed acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h in the standard S8 is only 3.8 seconds (as in the previous version of the S8 plus).

The dynamics were measured using the vbox complex.

If the results are true, the Audi S8 will de facto be faster than the Mercedes-AMG S 63 4Matic+, which accelerates to hundreds in 3.5 seconds.
Recall that the new S8 is equipped with a 4.0 l V8 engine with dual turbocharging and a soft hybrid MHEV c 48-volt power grid and a compact lithium battery. The capacity of the sedan is 571 HP and a torque of 800 Nm. The powerplant is combined with Quattro all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic.

 The basic equipment of the charged sedan includes a full-control chassis, active suspension with the function of recognizing road potholes and active stabilizer bars. The system is able to compensate for body rolls in particularly serious turns, and the compensation level can vary from 2.5 to 5 degrees. In Comfort+ mode, the active suspension performs a reverse roll inside the turn to reduce the transverse loads on the passengers, and when the door handle is opened, the body instantly rises by 50 mm to facilitate landing in the car

Optionally, the Audi S8 can be equipped with a sports rear differential and carbon-ceramic brakes with discs 420/370 mm, which are almost 10 kg lighter than the cast-iron system. Of course, the new Audi super sedan is equipped with a whole complex of road assistants, of which there are already 38 in the Tour and City packages. 

And the Audi S8 for the first time in the history of the model appeared extended version of the S8 L, which is addressed to the markets of the United States, Canada and China. The length of the body and wheelbase of this sedan increased by 130 mm.
