Previously, it was assumed that the modern De Tomaso P72 will receive a 12-cylinder engine from the Apollo IE supercar, but the company decided to follow the path laid by the classic models.
Like them, the modern coupe uses a Ford engine. This time involved a 5-liter V8 with a mechanical compressor, which is also trained in the famous Studio Roush. Develops a motor of more than 700 HP and more than 825 Nm of torque, and the engine was allowed to run on 92-m gasoline. Its potential is realized through the six-speed mechanics of De Tomaso's own development.
The company claims that it developed its supercar as a means for high-speed and comfortable travel, including in Europe, so the motor will meet all the requirements in the Old world for cars – including environmental.
And the use of a widespread motor will supposedly remove all questions about its maintenance.
It is already known that the carbon chassis for De Tomaso was also borrowed – from the aforementioned Apollo Intensa Emozione. The company is going to release only 72 copies of the revived coupe (as hinted by the index of the model), and each will cost at least 750 000 euros.
